What personal data we collect
We collect only what is necessary:
From everyone who visits the site
- Technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) via cookies/Google Analytics.
- Cookie preferences.
When you make an enquiry via the contact/lead form (Trades & Services Directory)
- Name, phone number, email, postcode, details of the service you need.
When you buy as a customer in the Makers Shop
- Name, billing/shipping address, email, phone, payment details (processed securely by Stripe – we never see your full card details), order history.
When you apply to become a Maker or list as a Trade/Service provider
- Name, business name, address, email, phone, NI number & date of birth (for Makers only – required for HMRC reporting if thresholds are met), description of what you make/do, photos of products/services.
From listed Makers and Trades (when they use their dashboard)
- Login details, sales/lead reports, payout bank details.

We do not sell your data to third parties.
Who we share your data with
- Stripe – payment processing (secure, EU/UK adequate).
- Makers – only the data needed to fulfil your order (name, address, order details).
- Listed Trades/Services – only your name, phone, email, postcode & enquiry details (never shared with anyone else).
- HMRC – for Makers only, and only if you exceed 30 sales or ~£1,700 gross in a calendar year on our platform. We send only the minimum required (name, address, total gross sales on our site). We always email you a copy first.
- Our hosting/email providers (UK-based, GDPR compliant).
- Accountants/lawyers – only if legally required.
We never share data outside the UK/EEA without safeguards.
How long we keep your data
- Enquiry/lead data: 12 months after the enquiry (or until you ask us to delete).
- Order data: 6 years (for tax & legal reasons).
- Maker/Trade listing data: for the duration of your listing + 2 years after.
- Marketing consent: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your data
- Object to processing
- Withdraw consent
- Request a copy of your data (portability)
- Complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk)
